The UEFA Nations League Final Four has officially kicked off.
The first semifinal saw Germany take on Portugal in a highly anticipated clash, Idman.biz reports.
Despite being considered the favorite, Germany couldn't break the deadlock in the first half. Shortly after the break, Florian Wirtz put Germany ahead. However, the lead didn’t last long.
Portugal responded with two quick goals within five minutes, becoming the first team to book their spot in the final.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning goal — his 937th career strike. Of those, 137 have come for the Portuguese national team, and the remaining 800 at club level.
This victory marks Portugal’s first win over Germany in 25 years. Their last triumph came during the Euro 2000 group stage with a 3–0 scoreline.
