“The race might stay intense right up to the final round,” football expert Samir Aliyev told Idman.biz.
The former Azerbaijan national team player weighed in on the battle for third place in the Misli Premier League, Idman.biz reports.
Aliyev noted that both contenders face tough matches in Matchday 34:
“Looking at the standings, Araz Nakhchivan, currently in third, hold a six-point lead over fourth-placed Turan Tovuz. With only three rounds left, that’s a maximum of nine points up for grabs. This week, Turan Tovuz will host Neftchi — and it won’t be an easy match. Meanwhile, Araz Nakhchivan are away to Qarabag. Even though Qarabag have already secured the title, it will still be a tough game for Araz Nakhchivan.”
Aliyev considers Araz Nakhchivan the favorites to clinch third place:
“With three rounds left, Araz Nakhchivan have a six-point cushion. For Turan Tovuz to change the outcome, they’d need to win all three remaining games, and Araz Nakhchivan would have to lose theirs. In my view, if not this round, we’ll likely know the third-place finisher by the next.”
Araz Nakhchivan is 3rd with 55 points and Turan Tovuz is 4th with 49 points in the current standings.
Qarabag have already sealed the title, while Zira have secured the silver medals.
