A football tournament among veteran players will be organized in Ganja ahead of the 3rd CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan.
The chairman of the Football Veterans Union, Ogtay Abdullayev, shared this information with Report, Idman.biz informs.
He noted that several teams are expected to participate in the tournament: “The 3rd CIS Games will be held in Azerbaijan in September. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov asked us to organize an international tournament among veteran football players before this event. The minister also said that support would be provided for the organization. We plan to have 8 teams participating. We’ve already prepared a list and started drafting the regulations. We aim to hold the tournament in June in Ganja. Belarus, Georgia, and Russia have already confirmed their participation. We also intend to invite veteran players from Turkey. The new AFFA leadership is also supporting us in this matter.”
The 3rd CIS Games will be held from September 28 to October 8 in the cities of Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi.
