In Baku, a man defrauded three people of 10,000 AZN by promising to sell them household appliances at discounted prices.
Idman.biz, citing Qafqazinfo, reports that 41-year-old Aslan Mammadov took the money but failed to deliver the goods. After the victims filed complaints with the police, Mammadov was arrested.
In court, Mammadov admitted his gambling addiction led to the crime: “I became addicted, and that’s when everything went wrong. I lost all my money betting on Beşiktaş games. Every week, I placed bets on their matches, but I never won. I regret my actions and have already reconciled with the victims.”
During the investigation, Mammadov’s family compensated the victims and covered the court fees. As a result, the case was closed, and Mammadov was released from custody.
