The first participants in the FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival, set to be held for the first time in football history, have begun arriving in Baku.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the official website of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), Nicaragua's national under-15 team became the first foreign delegation to arrive in Azerbaijan.
The Central American delegation was welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport on October 19, officially marking the beginning of the arrival process for participants in the major international football event.
According to the latest information from AFFA, representatives from 189 countries are expected to take part in the FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival, scheduled for October 22–30. Nearly 1,000 matches are planned during the competition.
The tournament will feature an unusual format, with teams competing in eight-a-side matches. Each game will consist of two 20-minute halves.
Most matches will take place at a specially constructed sports complex in the Hovsan settlement of Baku.
The inaugural FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival is set to become one of the largest international football events ever hosted by Azerbaijan, bringing together young players from across the world.
