Lady Gaga and The Weeknd rumored to collaborate on official 2026 World Cup song

American singer Lady Gaga and Canadian artist The Weeknd are at the center of growing rumors suggesting they could collaborate on the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, Idman.Biz reports.

According to widespread speculation, the two global music icons may join forces to create the anthem for the tournament, which is set to kick off on June 11 at Mexico’s Estadio Azteca with the opening match between the national teams of Mexico and South Africa.

While FIFA has not made any official announcement and neither artist has confirmed the project, rumors intensified in December 2025 after The Weeknd deleted all posts from his Instagram account and shared an old photo of Lady Gaga from the era of her album “The Fame.” The image, showing Gaga standing in front of a black Lexus with the license plate “LADYGAGA,” fueled talk of a potential collaboration.

Lady Gaga later addressed the situation briefly in an interview, saying: “I adore Abel, that’s all I’m going to say. I’m a big fan of Abel,” leaving fans with more questions than answers.

With less than six months remaining before the start of the 2026 World Cup, anticipation continues to grow not only around the official song, but also around preparations for the opening match. Mexico City is getting ready to welcome fans from around the world, while the Estadio Azteca, which will be temporarily renamed Estadio Ciudad de Mexico during the tournament, is undergoing extensive renovations ahead of the World Cup.
