Sabah midfielder Velko Simic has shared his thoughts on the team’s upcoming away match against Sumgayit in the 16th round of the Misli Premier League, which will be the club’s final game of the year.
According to Idman.Biz, citing futbolinfo.az, the Serbian midfielder stressed that the team is aiming to extend its successful run.
"Sumgayit are a good team with a strong coach. But if we play the same way we did against Qarabag, we will have a high chance of winning," Simic said.
The player also commented on Sabah’s current position at the top of the league table, warning against placing too much emphasis on interim standings. "It is nice, of course, but there is still a long way to go. In December it is not so important who leads the table. What matters is where you are at the end of the season," he noted.
In addition, Simic spoke about head coach Valdas Dambrauskas, praising his approach to the game. "He is a modern coach who likes attacking and intensive football. There is discipline in the team, and at the same time he knows how to communicate well with the players. It is a pleasure to work with him," the midfielder added.
It should be recalled that in the previous round Sabah defeated Qarabag 2:1 and moved to the top of the Misli Premier League standings.
