Manchester City are close to signing an 18 year old midfielder from Troyes, Mathis Detourbet, who is considered one of the most promising young talents in French football.
According to İdman.Biz, citing Goal, City’s interest is far from superficial. The player has already visited the club’s training base, underlining the seriousness of the club’s intentions. Detourbet has quickly progressed from the Troyes academy to the first team and has made 14 appearances in Ligue 2 this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Despite modest statistics, scouts highly value his off the ball movement, composure under pressure and instinctive attacking play. Roma previously made a bid of around €10 million, which was rejected by Troyes. Monaco and several Italian clubs are also monitoring the player’s situation.
An additional advantage for Manchester City is that Troyes are part of the City Football Group structure. This allows the English club to closely track the player’s development and build a long term plan without rushing an immediate transfer. Detourbet’s current market value is estimated at around €4 million.
