Carlo Ancelotti’s son steps down as head coach of Botafogo

Brazilian football club Botafogo has announced the departure of Davide Ancelotti from the position of head coach, Idman.biz reports.

Davide is the son of Brazil national team head coach Carlo Ancelotti. Previously, he worked as an assistant to his father at Real Madrid and other clubs. Botafogo became the first club in his independent coaching career, which he took over in the summer of 2025.

According to Globo, the reason for the termination of the contract was the Italian coach’s dissatisfaction with the dismissal of fitness coach Luca Guerra, a decision the club’s management explained by a high number of muscle injuries among players. Ancelotti stated that he would remain at the club only if the entire coaching staff was retained, but Botafogo refused to accept this condition.

During his time at the club, Davide Ancelotti recorded 14 wins, 11 draws, and 7 defeats.
