Ahead of the Matchday 6 fixture of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League against Qarabag, Ajax’s acting head coach Fred Grim shared his thoughts on the upcoming game, Idman.Biz reports.
According to Grim, the team feels strong support within the club, and the arrival of fans in Baku has given the players additional motivation.
"We have watched and analyzed the opponent’s games. Qarabag’s players are technically strong; it is a balanced and big team. They play very fast in attack, and we have our own plans for that. We are looking forward to tomorrow. Based on the current condition of the players, we will decide who will take the field," Grim said.
He noted that the defeats in previous Champions League matches were a heavy blow for the Amsterdam side.
"Tomorrow we want to earn points. Our goal was to reach the next stage. Being without points in such a tournament is not good. The opponent has seven points — we know this, and we will do everything possible," the coach emphasized.
The match between Qarabag and Ajax will take place on December 10 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium and will kick off at 21:45 Baku time.
