Fans of Kazakhstan’s “Astana” football club are preparing an appeal to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to Idman.biz, citing the “Seryy CARDINAL” Telegram channel, the supporters have already begun filming the video appeal or are in its final preparation stage. The topic of the message has not been disclosed, but it is emphasized that it concerns “an important issue requiring the attention of the head of state.”
The fans’ activity comes amid reports that the Samruk-Kazyna fund may stop financing the club and general uncertainty about the team’s future.
This season, Astana finished second in the Kazakhstan Premier League with 57 points, losing the championship to Kairat. In the Kazakhstan Cup, the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Zhenis on penalties (1:1, 3:4).
