Representatives of Iran’s national football team will not attend the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington on December 5.
According to Idman.Biz, the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) announced that only four members of the Iranian delegation were granted visas by the U.S. government, while applications for the remaining officials were denied.
“We informed the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) that these decisions have no connection to sports, and members of the Iranian delegation will not participate in the draw,” the IFF said in a statement.
The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 teams, which will be divided into 12 groups for the tournament.
