Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), expressed his belief that “Qarabag” will advance to the next stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking to Report news agency, Huseynzade said he follows all of the Azerbaijani club’s matches in Europe’s top club competition: “We have a chance to reach the next round. I believe we can qualify. Last season, we participated in the UEFA Europa League and finished the group stage with 3 points in last place. This year, we are in the Champions League and already have 6 points. Just being in the Champions League and achieving good results here is already a success for ‘Qarabag.’”
The NOC official also emphasized the team’s potential to perform well in home matches: “Our group-stage opponents are very strong, but it’s possible to beat them. I believe ‘Qarabag’ will earn additional points in its home games in Baku.”
After three rounds in the Champions League group stage, “Qarabag” sits 13th with 6 points. The team will face England’s “Chelsea” in Baku on November 5.
