As part of the Azerbaijan Cup second qualifying round, First League side Sabail will host Premier League team Shamakhi.
Sabail head coach Elvin Mammadov shared his thoughts with fanat.az ahead of the match.
The coach emphasized that following a challenging league game against Shafa, the team has been preparing without a break for the cup fixture: “We are expecting a tough match against Shamakhi. Coach Aykhan Abbasov has a combative team. Actually, we will approach the game stress-free. We do not have a long-term goal in the Cup. However, this does not mean we lack ambition or will give up easily. We will continue as far as our abilities allow.”
Mammadov also noted the squad is largely intact, with only their Ghanaian striker Mustafa Yakubu carrying a minor injury.
The Sabail vs. Shamakhi match will take place on October 29 at ASCO Arena, starting at 16:00.
