Rahil Mammadov, the “Araz-Nakhchivan” player sidelined from the Azerbaijan national team, has sustained a serious injury.
Idman.Biz, citing Report news agency, reports that the 29-year-old defender has been diagnosed with a groin problem. The duration of his absence from the pitch will be determined after medical examinations. It is likely that Mammadov will not be able to play until the end of 2025.
He suffered the injury during training ahead of Azerbaijan’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine. The game, held in Krakow, Poland, ended in a 2-1 victory for the Ukrainian side.
