Mamedyarov leads Azerbaijani grandmasters in rapid and blitz chess rankings

After publishing the classical chess ratings, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has also released the rapid and blitz chess rankings at the beginning of August.

Among Azerbaijani grandmasters, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov holds the highest rating in rapid chess, Idman.biz reports.

He ranks 19th in the world with a rating of 2701. Teimour Radjabov is 37th with 2661 points, while Eltaj Safarli ranks 71st with a rating of 2627.

The leader in rapid chess is Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2809), followed by Ding Liren (China, 2770) and Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, 2762).

In blitz chess, Mamedyarov ranks 38th with 2676 points. Radjabov is 59th with 2646. Two more Azerbaijani players are in the top 100: Eltaj Safarli (2634) is 73rd, and Rauf Mamedov (2609) ranks 95th.

Magnus Carlsen also tops the blitz chess rankings with 2881 points. Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2838) is second, and Alireza Firouzja (France, 2814) is third.
