Newly elected International Chess Federation (FIDE) president Timur Turlov has visited Baku.
İdman.Biz reports, citing the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF), that Turlov met with ACF president Mahir Mammadov during his visit.
The sides exchanged views on the development of chess in Azerbaijan, Baku's experience in hosting international tournaments and the prospects for future cooperation between FIDE and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
At the end of the meeting, Mammadov presented the FIDE president with a commemorative gift.
Turlov was elected as the new FIDE president last month, while Mammadov was re-elected as vice-president of the world chess governing body for a third term.
