The International Whitsun chess tournament held in Munich, Germany, has come to an end.
Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli secured second place in the competition, Idman.biz reports.
In the final (9th) round, Safarli defeated Kirill Alekseenko (Austria), bringing his total score to 7.5 points. Although he matched the points of tournament leader Elham Amar (Norway), he fell behind on tiebreaks and had to settle for the runner-up position.
A total of 152 players participated in the tournament.
