Elshan Mammadov was assigned this position by the order of the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Idman.biz reports.
Mammadov managed the Gusar Olympic Sports Complex for two years until his new appointment.
Before that, he worked as a sports journalist for 23 years as a reporter and editor in Sharg and Futbol+ newspapers, APA Sport, Lent.az and Report agencies. In 2020, he was awarded the Progress medal by the order of President Ilham Aliyev, and in 2016, he was awarded the title of Sports Journalist of the Year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
At the same time, Mammadov organized the Winners of the Year project 10 times in a row as the head of the Sports Research Center, as well as the Victory Cup tournaments for mini-football and volleyball.
