The Azerbaijan men’s national chess team has claimed another victory at the European Championship taking place in Batumi, Georgia.
According to Idman.biz, the team consisting of Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Aydin Suleymanli, Mahammad Muradli, and Eltaj Safarli defeated Poland with a score of 2.5:1.5.
Having previously beaten Slovakia (3:1) and drawn with the Czech Republic (2:2), the team currently ranks third with 5 points.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani women’s national team settled for a draw this round. The team, composed of Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balajayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, and Ayan Allahverdiyeva, shared the points with France, finishing 2:2.
In earlier rounds, the women’s team had defeated Slovenia (4:0) and Hungary (2.5:1.5) and now stands fourth with 5 points.
It should be noted that the European Championship, held under the Swiss system, will continue until October 14.
