The international Heydar Aliyev Cup 2025 youth boxing tournament will officially kick off on May 16 in Baku.
The traditional competition will be hosted at the Baku Boxing Center, featuring teams from 8 countries Azerbaijan (host nation), Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Russia, Belarus, Turkiye, and Georgia, Idman.biz reports.
More than 200 boxers will take part in the tournament, where winners will be determined in 14 weight categories for boys and 9 for girls.
The final bouts of the Heydar Aliyev Cup 2025 are scheduled for May 21.
Azerbaijan will be represented by a large squad, with 60 young boxers being tested by head coach Vagif Kazimov.
The tournament will officially begin with an opening ceremony at 14:00 on Day 1, followed by the first matches.
Notably, the supervisor of the tournament is Igor Biletskiy from Ukraine, while Anar Babanli will serve as the head referee.
