British boxer Fabio Wardley, the WBA world champion, has revealed that his sparring sessions with undefeated Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk were of great importance for his career.
According to Idman.Biz, he shared this in an interview with foreign media.
“Sparring with Usyk? That was back in October 2018, about seven years ago. At that time, I was just starting my boxing career and learning a lot. Sparring with him was an excellent experience for me — I took many hits, but at the same time gained priceless knowledge,” Wardley said.
The British boxer added that the most important lesson he learned during that period was related to the training process:
“That’s when I learned how to properly plan sparring days — what to do before and after stepping into the ring. I learned these small but crucial details from Oleksandr Usyk,” he said.
