Azerbaijan beach volleyball championship has been concluded. In the competition organized as a part of "Heydar Aliyev Year", the champions among both women and men were determined with the final matches held on September 3.
İdman.biz reports that the games were organized on four courts of the Water Sports Palace. Compared to previous years, the interest of volleyball fans in this year’s championship was quite high. The final matches were held in front of stands full of fans. During the breaks during the games, various quizzes and a show program were organized for the fans.
The last day of the competition, which was held at the Water Sports Palace, was started with the third place games.
The pair of Narmin Musayeva/Chinara Guliyeva and the pair of Asif Aliyev/Heydar Mammadli won bronze medals in the women’s competition.
Later, the final games took place. First, the women’s decisive match was held. In this match, the pair of Larisa Smeltsova/Fidan Ahmadkhanova won the title of champion by winning the pair of Leyla Parshkova/Fidan Farzullayeva with a score of 2:0.
After this match, men’s volleyball players went on the sand to determine the champion. Vadim Kutukov/Elmin Alyshanov won the gold medal after defeating the pair of Vugar Bayramov/Ulvi Rajabli 2:1 in this intense match.
Thus, in the women’s competition, the pair of Larisa Smeltsova/Fidan Ahmadkhanova won gold, the pair of Parshkova/Fidan Farzullayeva won silver, and Narmin Musayeva/Chinara Guliyeva won bronze. Vadim Kutukov/Elmin Alyshanov took the 1st place, Vugar Bayramov/Ulvi Rajabli took the 2nd place, Asif Aliyev/Heydar Mammadli took the 3rd place in the men's competition.
After the games, the awarding and official closing ceremony of the championship was held. The winners were presented with diplomas and medals by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and President of AVF (Azerbaijani Volleyball Federation) Shahin Bagirov.
It should be noted that teams from different regions participated in the last round of the national championship organized in 3 stages. Let’s emphasize that AVF works in the direction of the development of beach volleyball in addition to classical volleyball in our country. In the framework of these works, beach volleyball selection exercises were organized, talented teenagers were selected and involved in the exercises to perform in our national teams in different age groups. Azerbaijani teams have also been organized to participate in international competitions. Thus, our U-18 boys’ team participated in the European Championship for the first time and won rating points for our country.
