The EuroLeague, Europe’s premier basketball competition, will increase the number of participating teams from 18 to 20 starting with the 2025/2026 season.
The new season will see the inclusion of Valencia, Hapoel Tel Aviv, and Dubai in the tournament lineup, Idman.biz reports.
Meanwhile, German club Alba Berlin has voluntarily withdrawn from the EuroLeague to join the FIBA Basketball Champions League.
Despite the expansion, the competition format will remain unchanged. Six teams will earn direct qualification to the playoffs, while four additional teams will battle it out in the play-in round. The regular season will now feature 38 rounds instead of 34, with nine of those rounds played as double-headers.
The Final Four of the 2026 season is set to take place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
