The 76-year-old expert clarified the question of whether a international or local coach should lead the Azerbaijan national team: "Since 1994, I have mentioned in all my interviews that our national football team should be led by local coaches."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team finished the EURO-2024 qualifying with 7 points. The contract with the head coach of the team, Gianni de Biasi, was not renewed and they parted ways.
