Kakhaber Tskhadadze becomes first head coach to leave in 2026/27 Azerbaijan Premier League

Kakhaber Tskhadadze has stepped down as head coach of Gabala, becoming the first coaching departure of the 2026/27 Azerbaijan Premier League season.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the club announced the decision through its press service.

Gabala and the Georgian specialist terminated their existing contract by mutual consent. The club have also ended their cooperation with his assistant Georgi Chikhradze.

Tskhadadze took charge of Gabala on February 25, 2024, when the team were still competing in the Azerbaijan Premier League and sat bottom of the table. At the end of the 2023/24 season, Gabala were relegated to the First League under the Georgian coach.

Tskhadadze brought the club back to the top flight the following season. Gabala secured promotion ahead of schedule and went on to become champions of the 2024/25 First League.

Last season, Gabala narrowly avoided relegation from the Azerbaijan Premier League. They finished 11th, second from bottom, before defeating First League side Mingachevir 2:0 in the relegation play-off to retain their place in the top flight.

Tskhadadze's departure is the first head-coaching change in the Azerbaijan Premier League in the 2026/27 season.
