“The Azerbaijan championship and tournament in archery have been organized at a high level.”
Idman.biz, citing Report news agency, reports that this was stated by Anar Guliyev, president of the Azerbaijan Archery Federation, in an interview with journalists after the event.
He emphasized the special attention given to sports in Azerbaijan: “The tournament was a real celebration for archery enthusiasts. Sports receive special attention in Azerbaijan. For several years, we have been trying to organize archery competitions in a different and higher-quality manner. My impressions are very positive. The tournament was held at a high level. Gender balance was almost achieved, though I must admit that the number of female participants was higher. Especially athletes under 15 were more numerous and active.”
The federation president also mentioned plans to hold future competitions in regions outside the capital: “Until now, competitions have always been held in the capital. The tournament is held twice a year, indoors in winter and outdoors in summer. We plan to organize the tournament in regions soon. Other types of tournaments and cup games may be created shortly. The championship should cover the entire country.”
He also shared expectations for Azerbaijani athletes in the upcoming 3rd CIS Games: “This is an important sporting event for our country. The archery competitions will be held in Khankendi. This is an honor and a source of pride for every athlete. We believe our athletes will achieve good results. For some, it might be their first visit to the region. Participating in Khankendi is both very important and a great responsibility.”
More than 60 professional athletes representing different regions of the country competed for the championship.
