Today in Baku, the opening ceremony of the national championship and competition in archery took place.
The tournament was opened with an introductory speech by Rauf Aliyev, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Archery Federation, Idman.biz reports.
He noted that during the past period, the federation has taken important steps to ensure athletes’ physical and technical preparation, as well as their participation in domestic and internationally significant competitions.
The federation’s vice president emphasized that measures aimed at developing archery as a sport have not only stimulated athletes’ performance but also generated significant interest in this field.
Rauf Aliyev also highlighted the importance of the championship for forming the national team roster and wished all participants success in the competition. These wishes were echoed by the federation’s Board member Sumbul Turabova and Secretary General Farid Khalilov.
Following the official ceremony, the competition was declared open and the qualifying round of the tournament began.
The championship, attended by nearly 70 athletes from various regions, is being held for men and women across three age categories. The competition will conclude on August 30.
