Azerbaijan's national wrestling teams across all age categories will be provided with physiotherapists for the first time as part of a new development initiative.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, the project will be implemented in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Sports Academy (ASA).
Representatives of the academy attended a meeting dedicated to establishing the framework for cooperation between coaches and physiotherapists.
Discussions focused on defining the responsibilities of trainee specialists during training sessions, establishing working principles and ensuring clear expectations for everyone involved.
Particular attention was paid to involving young physiotherapy specialists in the training processes of Azerbaijan's U-15, U-17 and U-20 national wrestling teams. The initiative is designed to strengthen their theoretical knowledge while allowing them to gain valuable practical experience.
As part of the programme, participating students will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced physiotherapists currently working with Azerbaijan's senior national wrestling teams.
The joint initiative between the federation and ASA will ensure that wrestling teams at every age level have access to physiotherapy support, marking an important step towards improving athlete care, injury prevention and recovery.
The project also offers potential career opportunities for aspiring specialists. Students who demonstrate strong professional skills, commitment and initiative during their practical training may be offered permanent employment in the future.
