Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has commented on Vinicius Junior’s performance and role in the team following the 5:1 victory over Betis in the 18th round of La Liga.
According to Idman.Biz, speaking to the club’s official website, the Spanish specialist stressed that Vinicius has fundamental importance for the team and remains an irreplaceable figure. Alonso noted that the Brazilian made a strong impact on the game, especially in the first half, and continues to give a lot to the team through his persistence and work rate.
"He helped us a lot, came into the game very well and was especially useful in the first half. Vinicius is persistent and gives a lot to the team. I liked his performance and everything he did, he will have a fundamental role. Now we have a Super Cup match against 'Atletico' ahead of us, and Vinicius will be very important," Alonso said.
The coach also emphasized the importance of unity within the squad. "We are all here to support each other. As a team and individually, we want to show our best form. He has been a key player for 'Real', he is one now and he always will be. I am sure that 'Santiago Bernabeu' will applaud him. I have no doubt about that," Alonso added.
It should be noted that Vinicius started the match and spent 77 minutes on the pitch. He did not register any goal contributions, and when he was substituted, some Madrid fans whistled him.
