Figure skater Veronika Zhilina does not plan to end her career following the International Skating Union’s (ISU) decision to deny her switch to the Azerbaijani national team.
Idman.biz, citing RIA Novosti, reports that the 17-year-old athlete continues training and plans to compete once the issue regarding her transfer is resolved.
The agency also reported, citing another source, that Zhilina and her family are considering relocating to Azerbaijan.
Earlier, the Russian Figure Skating Federation refused to grant Zhilina permission to change her sporting citizenship from Russia to Azerbaijan. The skater has already obtained an Azerbaijani passport. It was later revealed that she repaid the federation approximately 1 million rubles (around 21,700 AZN) that had been spent on her training.
