Idman.biz reports that Chingiz Huseynzade, vice president of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee, said this at the opening ceremony of the international ski mountaineering competition in Shahdag.
He said that a high-level competition in this category is being held for the first time in Azerbaijan.
"The results of our country in winter sports are still low. I hope that by holding these competitions, these sports will develop in Azerbaijan and we will achieve higher results," Huseynzade added.
It should be noted that 55 athletes from 11 countries, as well as officials of the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Winter Sports Federation are participating in the competition.
