The leadership of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF) held a meeting with members of our women’s national volleyball team.
According to Idman.biz, AVF President Shahin Bagirov, Vice-President and national team head coach Faiq Garayev, Vice-President Bahruz Guliyev, Secretary General Faiq Orujov, and team manager Sabina Babayeva attended the meeting. Players currently abroad joined the meeting online.
Speaking at the event, Bagirov first discussed the recently concluded Golden European League. He expressed regret that the team could not perform as expected in this year’s tournament, noting that several key players were unable to assist the national team for various reasons, which contributed to the weak results. Nevertheless, the AVF president stated that the group stage of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be held this November, and next August, the group stage of the European Championship will take place in Baku, emphasizing the importance of focusing on these upcoming competitions. Bagirov also highlighted the significant efforts being made in Azerbaijan to develop youth volleyball and train talented players. He expressed confidence that these players will join the national team in the coming years and achieve success in major competitions. The federation president wished the team success and an injury-free season.
Faiq Garayev noted that clubs are already starting their seasons and players are preparing for the upcoming season with their teams. Nevertheless, he emphasized that preparations for the Islamic Solidarity Games will also be organized. He added that discussions will be held regarding participation in the group stage of the European Championship to be hosted in Azerbaijan next year. Garayev also mentioned that the draw for the group stage of the continental championship will take place in the coming months, after which a detailed preparation plan for the tournament will be developed.
Following this, members of the national team also spoke, sharing their thoughts on preparations for the upcoming competitions.
