The Azerbaijani U-18 beach volleyball team, which held a training camp in Antalya, Turkiye, has completed its training.
Idman.biz reports that this was announced by the press service of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation.
Our team, which went through a 14-day training camp under the leadership of Brazilian specialist Joanildo Costa Junior, played a total of 12 matches with the Turkish U-18 national team here. Our national team won 8 games.
The head coach of our team, Joanildo Costa Junior, was satisfied with Azerbaijan and the training camp: "I am very happy in Baku. I feel at home. People are cheerful and welcoming. There is a safe environment in the country and this contributes significantly to the quality of our training."
The Brazilian specialist also spoke about the goals set for our U-18 team and the European Championship among under-18 volleyball players: "It is commendable that the young athletes of Azerbaijan take training seriously. I appreciate the progress in this direction. Our goal in the U-18 European Championship is high, we will perform successfully at every stage and try to go as far as possible. Our priority is to qualify for the main stage of the competition. After that, we intend to advance game by game until the finals.”
Joanildo Costa Junior also shared his thoughts about the training in Antalya: "The training in Antalya is of great importance for the technical, tactical and physical development of our team. We trained twice a day and also had test matches with Turkish volleyball players of the same age category. All this helps us to identify our shortcomings and mistakes, as well as to work more on technical and tactical preparations. Every condition has been created here to practice beach volleyball and sports in general at a professional level. I think that our meeting in Antalya was very successful and efficient in general."
