A protocol of intent on joint cooperation was signed between the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF).

Idman.biz reports that the event took place at the NOC.

The document was signed by the vice-president of the committee Chingiz Huseynzada and the president of the federation Shahin Bagirov.

Huseynzada said that even before the protocol, the parties had joint projects, after which the cooperation will be further strengthened: "We had programs intended for individual species. In this regard, volleyball is the first type of team that we cooperate with. We have previously held coaching courses and various projects with the Federation, including events under the flag of the International Olympic Committee."

The vice-president also noted that the level of volleyball has started to rise again: "The championship is taking place in an interesting competitive environment. This gives reason to think that the level of both the teams, the championship and the national team will rise. There was a time when we did not have a national championship, but the Azerrail club made a name for itself in the European Cups."

Baghirov noted that Azerbaijani volleyball is experiencing a new period of development: "The country's volleyball has a rich history. The women's national team is headed by the legendary Faig Garayev. We thank NOC for such cooperation. This suggests that more young people will come to volleyball soon. After all, our sport is a core part of the Olympic Movement. We are glad that the complex model of the NOC works in volleyball as well. Joint projects await us ahead. I would also like to mention the process of creating a volleyball academy, which is important for the future."
