Poland’s Iga Swiatek claimed her first Wimbledon title in dominant style, defeating Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes.
Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the 24-year-old, playing her maiden final at the All England Club, became the first woman since 1911 to win a Wimbledon final without dropping a single game.
Swiatek, now a six-time Grand Slam champion, said the victory felt "super surreal" as she had never dared to dream of triumphing on grass.
Anisimova, seeded 13th, struggled with nerves throughout, hitting 28 unforced errors and five double faults. “I ran out of gas,” she told the crowd, fighting back tears. Despite the loss, the American described the tournament as an “incredible fortnight.”
