Today, at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir, the taekwondo competitions of the 3rd CIS Games kicked off.
On the first day, contests were held in 7 weight categories: 54 kg, 63 kg, 74 kg, and 87 kg for men, and 46 kg, 53 kg, and 62 kg for women.
Azerbaijan’s representatives Humay Dadashova (46 kg), Maryam Mammadova (53 kg), and Ziya Hasanli (63 kg) became champions.
Umid Rahimzade (54 kg) and Eljan Aliyev (74 kg), after losing in the finals, claimed silver medals.
At the same time, six taekwondo athletes claimed bronze medals – Tamerlan Yagubov (54 kg), Allahverdi Mammadov and Zeynal Aliyev (both 87 kg) in the men’s competition, and Salima Guliyeva (46 kg), Nilufar Borji (53 kg), and Nargiz Kazimova (62 kg) in the women’s.
