President of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation (ASF), Zaur Aliyev, and Secretary General Ogtay Atayev participated in the World Aquatics Congress held in Singapore.
According to ASF, various speeches, discussions, meetings, and elections to the World Aquatics (WA) bureau took place during the event, Idman.biz reports.
For the ASF leadership, the congress was also significant in terms of expanding international relations, establishing partnerships, exchanging experience, and fostering future cooperation.
Zaur Aliyev held meetings with WA President Husain Al-Musallam, WA Vice President and President of European Aquatics Antonio Silva, EA Vice Presidents Josip Varvodic and Erkan Yalcin, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia for Central Asia Otabek Umarov, as well as President of the Belarus Swimming Federation Olga Brusnikina.
The WA Congress is the highest decision-making meeting of the World Aquatics Federation. Representatives of member countries participate to discuss the organization’s future strategy and policies, management and structural reforms, international competitions, and regulations. The congress is usually held during the World Championships or the Olympic Games.
In parallel with the conference, the World Aquatics Championships are taking place in Singapore. Azerbaijan’s national swimming team is represented at the competition by Ramil Valizada and Suleyman Ismayilzade. They are accompanied by head coach Rashad Abdurahmanov and coach Ruslan Hatamkhanov. The president met with the national team, had a detailed conversation, and wished the athletes success.
The competition will continue until August 3. In total, around 2,500 athletes from more than 200 countries are participating in the championship.
