Azerbaijani athletes have kicked off their campaign at the Universiade held in Germany's Rhein-Ruhr region.
According to special correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, competitions are being held today in rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and swimming.
In the swimming program, Fatima Alkaramova, Abdurrahman Rustamov, and Ramil Valizada failed to qualify for the semifinals in the 50-meter butterfly event.
Said Hamidov also did not advance to the semifinals in the 100-meter backstroke.
Despite setting a new national record, the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay team did not qualify for the final.
