Today, the sambo competitions kicked off at the Goygol Olympic Sports Complex as part of the 3rd CIS Games.
The competitions are being held in eight weight categories in the men’s division.
Azerbaijani athletes have reached the finals in five of them. Abdullatif Musayev (53 kg), Rustam Gasymzade (58 kg), Nijat Rahimov (64 kg), Abubakir Huseynov (98 kg), and Rasul Samedli (+98 kg) will compete for gold medals. Meanwhile, Mikail Amirov (71 kg) and Khazar Amrakhly (88 kg) lost in the semifinals and will fight for bronze.
The medal bouts will start at 17:00.
