Mehman Khalilov, who caused the death of a 7-year-old child, was sentenced to 19 years

The trial of athlete Mehman Khalilov, who was accused of killing seven-year-old Farid Bakarov during training, has ended in the Sumgayit Court on Grave Crimes.

Idman.biz reports that the sentence was read out to the accused in the trial chaired by judge Fahmin Humbatov.

According to the court's verdict, Khalilov was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

In the last trial, the prosecutor asked Mehman Khalilov for a 20-year prison sentence.

It should be noted that the incident took place in April last year. Videos showing Khalilov's cruel behavior towards juniors in training have been released. He grabbed the victim Farid Bakarov's hair, head, and ears and lifted him into the air, as well as kicked him and performed other dangerous actions. Bakarov died as a result of the incident.

Initially, a criminal case was opened against Khalilov under Article 126.3 of the Criminal Code (Intentional causing of heavy harm to health), and a pretrial detention measure was chosen against him. At the end of the preliminary investigation, his act was described under articles 120.2.4 (made with special cruelty or all-dangerous method) and 120.2.9 (. persons, obviously for guilty being down and out, and equally integrated to kidnapping or capture of the hostage) of the Criminal Code.
