Lightweight UFC champion Islam Makhachev has announced for the first time that he wants to fight another champion, Ilia Topuria.
The 33-year-old MMA fighter revealed in May that he had moved up to the welterweight division, Idman.biz reports.
At a press conference in Kaspiysk dedicated to the joint tournament organized by “Eagle FC” and “Fight Nights,” Makhachev said on the topic: “My next fight? There is some intrigue with Topuria. I’m personally interested in this fight as well. It might be possible to organize some kind of super fight. I don’t know yet, it will depend on the weight, we’ll see.”
Makhachev will fight welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena, though the date of the matchup is not yet known.
