An open championship of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in MMA was held at the Olympic Sports Complex named after Ilham Aliyev.
Nearly 100 athletes participated in the competition, which was jointly organized by the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Turan Fight Club, Idman.biz reports.
Medalists were determined in 13 weight categories.
At the beginning of the award ceremony, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Majid Seyidov, Deputy Minister and Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, by the President of the Azerbaijan MMA and Grappling Federation, Azad Asgarov, for the attention and support shown to the athletes.
The Federation’s representative in Nakhchivan, Khayal Abdullayev, was awarded an honorary diploma for his services in the promotion and development of MMA and grappling sports.
Athletes who placed in the top three were awarded diplomas and medals. The awards were presented by Deputy Minister Majid Seyidov, Federation President Azad Asgarov, and others.
According to the results, Yusif Gasimov (25 kg), Aykhan Guliyev (32 kg), Mahammad Gasimov (38 kg), Nuraddin Aliyev (42 kg), Ali Abilov (46 kg), Rahim Jafarov (50 kg), Abulfaz Jafarov (52 kg), Mahammad Hasanov (54 kg), Musa Abdullayev (56 kg), Elgun Farajov (58 kg), Oguz Mammadli (61 kg), Ali Asadli (64 kg), and Ravil Almammadov (73 kg) took first place in their respective weight categories.
