American MMA fighter Belal Muhammad has called the upcoming UFC event in Baku a historic milestone for Azerbaijani sports.
Speaking to journalists, Muhammad, who is in Baku as a guest star for the June 21 fight night, shared his admiration for the city and its people.
“Hosting the UFC in Baku is a historic event for Azerbaijani sports,” Muhammad told AZERTAC, Idman.biz reports.
“It’s my first time in Baku, and I’m amazed. I’ve been here for two weeks now. The people are extremely friendly and warm, and your food is absolutely delicious.”
He also praised the city's atmosphere and organization:
“The weather here is beautiful, and everything has been organized at the highest level. I’m really looking forward to fight night.”
Muhammad revealed that he will be supporting fellow Chicago native Jamahal Hill in the event’s main bout:
“He’s a great fighter, and I expect an exciting showdown.”
The UFC Fight Night will take place on June 21 at the Baku Crystal Hall. The main event will feature a clash between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree, both representing the United States.
