“Everything in Azerbaijan is perfect. I received an incredible welcome here—something you don’t experience anywhere else in the world,” said American UFC fighter Khalil Rountree at a press conference ahead of UFC Fight Night Baku.
Idman.biz, citing AZERTAC, reports that the 35-year-old athlete expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijani hospitality and said his full focus is on his upcoming bout:
“My goal is to defeat Jamahal Hill. I expect a tough, hard-fought match. We’ll talk about the future after that.”
Rountree also spoke about a recent photo of him wearing the jersey of Azerbaijan’s Qarabag FK:
“I bought the jersey and a traditional Azerbaijani hat here in Baku. I’ll definitely be taking both back home to the U.S.”
The fighter, who recently underwent nose surgery, added that he’s feeling great and ready to perform.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled for June 21 at Baku Crystal Hall, where Khalil Rountree will face his fellow American, Jamahal Hill, in a highly anticipated matchup.
