Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Khalil Rountree has arrived in Azerbaijan to headline the UFC Fight Night set to take place in Baku on June 21.
The American fighter took time today to explore the historic heart of the capital – Icherisheher (Old City), Idman.biz reports.
During his visit, Rountree toured the iconic Palace of the Shirvanshahs, climbed the legendary Maiden Tower, and got a glimpse into Azerbaijan’s rich carpet-weaving traditions. He even tried his hand at weaving a carpet himself.
The main event of the UFC Baku card will see Rountree face off against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill. The co-main event features Azerbaijan’s own Rafael Fiziev taking on Chilean fighter Ignacio Bahamondes in a lightweight bout.
Also stepping into the octagon that night are Azerbaijani athletes Nazim Sadykhov and Tofiq Musayev, who will face Brazil’s Nikolas Motta and Kyrgyzstan’s Mıktıbek Orolbay, respectively.
