The international “Marmara Cup” karate tournament was held in Turkiye.
The Azerbaijani national team won 13 medals at the competition, Idman.biz reports.
Among our karatekas, Farid Savadov (60 kg), Nuran Rzazade (67 kg), Rashid Suleymanov (75 kg), and Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kg) defeated all their opponents to claim the top spot on the podium. Those who lost only in the finals, Madina Sadigova (55 kg), Fariz Shahbazov (60 kg), and Huseyn Mammadli (67 kg), earned silver medals. Fatima Jabrayilova (50 kg), Nazrin Piriyeva (55 kg), Turgut Hasanov, Farid Shahbazli (both 84 kg), and Vahid Hasanov (+84 kg) finished in third place.
With 4 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals, our team topped the overall standings (across children, juniors, youth, and seniors).
Nearly 2,000 karatekas from 28 countries participated in the international tournament. Following the event, our athletes began training sessions in preparation for the CIS Games.
