The three-time world champion evaluated the silver medal she won at the World Games held in Chengdu, China. Returning from maternity leave, Zaretska said this medal proves that she is capable of everything and even more: “I am endlessly grateful to those who have walked this path with me and contributed to this success. Thank you so much. You supported and inspired me. Finally, after the competition, I can say I am ‘at home.’ Brilliant fights, best techniques, and new moves, this is what I wanted to show today and what you have been waiting for a long time. I am hungry for more victories, so there will be more.”
The Olympic medalist thanked her personal and national team coaches, stating that this success is the result of team effort.
Sharing a photo with her daughter, Irina said this moment was her dream: “Maybe I am dreaming. Winning at a competition with my baby was one of my dreams. I don’t know why, but it has been in my mind for years... Now it has come true.”
Zaretska, competing in the 68 kg category, lost in the final to Elena Quirici (Switzerland).
