A tournament called the “Karadeniz and Caspian Countries Karate Championship” was held at the Yenisehir Sports Hall in the Turkish city of Rize.
Three athletes from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic representative office of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation took part in the tournament, Idman.biz reports.
Among them, Fatima Bagirzade (ages 10–11, 50 kg) defeated all her opponents and became the champion. Khadija Bayramova (ages 10–11, 35 kg) won a bronze medal.
Nearly 1,000 athletes from countries of the Black Sea and Caspian regions competed in the championship across two age categories.
