President of the Azerbaijan Karate-Do Federation, Arif Mammadov, has suddenly passed away in the city of Batumi, Georgia.
Idman.biz, citing Modern.az, reports that contacted the vice president of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, Fuzuli Musayev, to learn more about the details of the incident.
According to Fuzuli Musayev, Arif Mammadov had traveled to Batumi in connection with a karate tournament in which his students were participating: “However, during the trip, he experienced sudden health problems and was urgently hospitalized. Based on the initial diagnosis, doctors stated that he had developed a form of lung freezing (a pneumonia-like process similar to hypothermia – ed.). His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he fell into a coma. We had to arrange for his evacuation to a hospital in Turkiye.”
According to the vice president, he was in the same hospital with Arif Mammadov at the time, but a specific medical diagnosis that led to his death has not yet been confirmed.
Arif Mammadov previously served as deputy chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
